The Super Visa enables grandparents and parents of Canadians to reside in Canada for an extended period of time.
The Super Visa enables grandparents and parents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to travel to see their relatives up to five times in a row without having to reapply for a tourist visa. Additionally, for a maximum of ten years, grandparents and parents can travel to Canada on multiple occasions using a Super Visa.
An applicant for a Super Visa must be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. No dependents may be listed on the application; however, the applicant’s spouse or common-law partner may.

The applicant’s child or grandchild must also be able to demonstrate that they can meet the low-income cutoff (LICO) standards, which are shown in the table below. The income requirement’s goal is to determine if a child or grandchild can support their family members financially, especially in light of the significant obligation that comes with caring for an older relative.

It is crucial to show that you have a family link, have the necessary resources, and are a temporary resident. Although a Super Visa may be awarded for a maximum of ten years, this does not guarantee that it will be. A compelling application increases the likelihood that the Super Visa will be approved and will ensure that it is issued for the largest period of time.
Processing times depend on the visa office and as per the latest update on 29th June 2022, the maximum processing time for a Super Visa application is 34 months. However, it does not mean that it’ll take the complete time you could get a decision within a couple of weeks as well, if you have every documentation in the right place.
